To reduce recidivism by assisting individuals with criminal records in becoming productive members of the community. This mission will be accomplished by providing assistance with employment placement and supportive services that will enable individuals with criminal records to become self-sufficient. WHO WE ARE
We are social service organizations, educational institutions, medical institutions, criminal justice institutions, community advocates, and governmental entities to help better people with criminal records. We assist adults (residing in Lake County, IL) with felony or misdemeanor convictions. On Thursday, July 18th, the Coalition to Reduce Recidivism hosted the 2024 "All Eyes on Me" Annual Youth Summit. Thank you to Andrew "Big Drew" Gadsden for being the moderator at this year's event.
The 2024 Youth Summit was held at the amazing Eleanor Murkey Community Resource Center, located at the College of Lake County's Lakeshore Campus. About 125 high school students from Waukegan, North Chicago, and Zion High Schools participated in this C2RR event. All high school participants were part of the Job Center of Lake County and Lake County Workforce Development's Summer Youth Employment Program. Participants were engaged in a series of break-out sessions led by a dynamic group of presenters: * Financial Literacy - Holly Kim, Lake County Treasurer * Mental Health & Healthy Relationships - Dr. Ciera McNeal * Conflict Resolution - Lake County Peacemakers * Applying for FAFSA/Scholarships - Demond D. Edwards * Social Media Management - Carlos "Boy Los Crazy" Smith |
This year's panelists included Dr. Avril Gordon - Tu Pharmacy; Deputy Chief Craig Neal - Waukegan Police Department; Dr. Ciera McNeal - Carmel High School and Adriana Gonzalez - WPS District #60.
